South Africa deporting Zimbabweans again

IRIN reports that South Africa has begun deporting Zimbabweans again, in spite of a statement by the Home Affairs minister saying that no deportations would happen yet. The South African Home Affairs department has been very slow to process applications from Zimbabweans for legal status after plans were announced to revoke the 2009 moratorium on deportation of Zimbabweans. The department suggested that those detained may be people who entered the country illegally recently. Activist groups are pleading with the government to ensure that repatriations do not include human rights abuses.
