Radio stations off air in Lesotho
Four privately owned radio stations in Lesotho were off air on 19 August 2011, less than 24 hours after station managers were warned that they could be shut down over their coverage of strikes in the country. The protests were said to be lead by opposition leaders and clashes were reported between protesters and police. MISA-Lesotho is calling for investigations into why the stations went off air and whether government was involved in deliberately limiting press freedom in the country.
