18 dead in Malawi protests

18 people are now reported to have died as protests in Malawi went on for a second day yesterday. Rights groups say journalists and civil society leaders were beaten up and arrested. Looting has been widespread and many businesses have closed. Meanwhile, Mutharika has reasserted his right to rule the country:

"I would continue to govern the country," Mutharika said on national radio. "As mandated by the constitution, the authority to run government is in my hands and not any other person."

    Hey There

I think it time where as African we will come together as brothers and sisters. Killing one onother was not our leaders wanted. We need to thanks leaders like Nelson mandela Samora Michea' and Julies Nyerere by bringing the peace they fought for.
