Namibia flood-affected may reach 400 000
While conservative estimates put the number at 100 000 to 200 000, some experts are suggesting that the recent flooding in Namibia may have affected as many as 400 000 people (Namibia's total population is just over 2 million). The UN Central Emergency Relief Fund (Cerf) has announced a grant of $8 million to help deal with the disaster. Heavy rains have also affected the central and southern areas of the country and further rains are now falling and continue to be expected in the South.
