GHI map of awesomeness

I'm a sucker for interactive maps that give you useful and/or interesting information, so not at all surprising that this Global Hunger Index map caught my eye:

Beyond being awesomely cool, and on a more serious note, it gives a great indication of where the greatest problems exist, coupled with analysis here of what has changed since 1990. More discussion and analysis here. The number of people hungry globally passed 1 billion in 2009. Most of the most seriously affected countries and people are in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Persistant and high levels of child undernourishment make the situation even worse. The full report can be found via the article to download or read online.
