Focus on food
One of the positive side-effects of the current climate-change flurry (hype?) is an increased focus on food security and production. While the call for countries to become self-sufficient is seriously problematic, investing in food production and upgrading of farming methods and tech in low-income countries is a good thing. This is particularly true when the focus is on the development of competitive agribusiness not just on subsistence. Subsistence farming is a nice idea and major motivator for urban agriculture but no subsistence farming system will ever produce enough food to feed all the people who live in cities. And 3.3 billion of the world's people live in urban centres. So it is particularly exciting to see developed countries pledging to invest in low-income countries' agribusiness like this and this.
