Reliefweb reports that the UNHCR puts the number of people affected by flooding in Benin at 680 000. 55 out of the country's 77 districts are affected. This may not sound massive but it is a very serious situation. Daniel Sellen at End Poverty paints a picture of what is really going on. Sadly this, like the cholera outbreak in Haiti, is getting far less coverage than some of the other news stories floating around at the moment, in spite of the dramatic impact it will have on the lives of thousands of people.
