Some days I wonder if US politics functions on the same planet as the rest of us! Former House Speaker, Newt Gingrich, is now accusing Obama of having a 'Kenyan, anti-colonial' world view. As opposed to, say, an American anti-colonial world view? Because last time I checked, probably the most anti-colonial perspective around really was the Americans. After all, the rest of us only really managed to throw off the shackles of colonialism when the Brits got tired of it and decolonized everything - we didn't have a full-on war with them. Which would suggest that calling someone anti-colonial would be a compliment in the US. Or at the least that the reverse - colonial? pro-colonial? - would be a rather large problem.
